In addition to funding research, in pursuit of a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, the Firefly Foundation is developing unique programs that will encourage students at the high school level to explore and pursue careers in neuroscience.
In 2011 we sponsored the Toronto Brain Bee. Since then we have been co-creating with the top three competitors to make mini-documentaries about what inspires them about the brain.
This year our Bright Lights Award will enable us to merge our commitment to early proof of concept research and young Canadian researchers with our desire to increase awareness in high school students about the importance of learning about the brain.
